Operating Principles
Our values are fully incorporate professional standards set by the British Computer Society, the Chartered Institute for IT.
We rely on a reputation that was established and continues to be maintained through the unfailing quality of our delivered services.
We seek to operate a lean business, accumulating minimal material infrastructure so that we may be more responsive to our customers’ needs.
Distinctive Business Practices
We have an accumulated knowledge of standards in all their forms and maintain skills in their interpretation and adoption. The legacy of our engagements is open, standardised, long-lived assets, which help our customers avoid vendor-dependency.
At LIDCAST we are experienced in specialised line-of-business applications. Line-of-business applications pertain to the highly specific processes and unique capabilities at the heart of a business; those that set the business apart from all others, large or small. Likewise in wider enterprise contexts, where our clients have included Government and not-for-profit organisations, we have again seen substantive needs for line-of-business applications. Although we would not dispute the significant business benefits that may be achieved through appropriate reuse, we contend that many all-embracing solutions are not the panacea they are advertised to be.
In addition to the certified analysis, design and architect skills we introduce to projects, there are three specific strengths that reinforce our line-of-business applications capability:
Conceptual Design, modelling the interrelationships between hugely complex system requirements throughout development and implementation to confirm consistency, coherence and completeness.Architecture definition, allowing applications to be managed as components of an explicit framework. Tailoring of systems at the Systems Architecture level has been seen to achieve more success than at the Application level.
Bespoke component delivery, bridging gaps in the Systems Architecture with small but key components, providing exceptional return on investment.
Our marketing materials, particularly our corporate web presence, are shaped by a design decision to convey company messages in simple narrative form, omitting superfluous promotional graphics and oblique advertising images. Whilst the importance of aesthetics to perceptions of good design is acknowledged, delivery of a lean asset was in this case decided to be an over-riding consideration. Further details of our technical experience of site development are given under Resources.
We seek to work as part of a value adding supplier chain. We enjoy working with upstream organisations such as outsourcers and systems integrators and will place work with specialist subcontractors that we have found to deliver compelling complementary services.
